The College of Pharmacy at Karbala University held a scientific course entitled Adrenal Insufficiency

The course included the first day’s lectures

Lecturer in the College of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Batool Louay Aziz showed in it the location of the adrenal gland and the hormones it secretes, as well as what are their pathological effects on the human body.

The adrenal gland is divided into the adrenal cortex and the adrenal medulla (the adrenal medulla).

The adrenal cortex secretes cortisol, which regulates the body’s response to disease and stress, and aldosterone, which regulates sodium and potassium levels.

While the adrenal medulla secretes the hormones adrenaline and noradrenaline (fight-or-flight hormones).

Dr. Batool added: Any imbalance in the adrenal gland hormones leads to many diseases. Excess cholesterol above the normal limit causes diseases such as Cushing’s disease, which affects the body hormonally.

As well as the appearance of excess hair on the chin in women, the appearance of the moon face, as well as the rough voice, the appearance of the purple color in the lower abdomen, and others

The teacher spoke in detail about the rest of the hormones and their negative and positive effects on the human body in terms of health and how to prevent them.
