PhD Dissertation at the University of Karbala Discusses Sayyid Hassan Al-Amin and His Approach to Historical Writing
A PhD dissertation in the College of Education for Humanities at the University of Karbala examined Hassan Al-Amin and his approach to historical writing, focusing on his work Supplement to A’yan al-Shi’a (1908-2002), by student Ghassan Ghazi Youssef.
The dissertation consists of four chapters: the first chapter discusses the birth and upbringing of Sayyid Hassan bin Mohsen Al-Amin Al-Amili, highlighting the influence of his family and political environment on his intellectual development. The second chapter explores his intellectual contributions, the third examines his methodology and style in historical writing, and the final chapter addresses his historical, intellectual, political, and literary perspectives.
The dissertation concluded that biographical works are a significant source for studying various historical periods and that the study of history extends beyond mere events, encompassing a broader and more comprehensive scope.
