The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, has directed the establishment of a new college at the University of Baghdad, focusing on frontier sciences and targeting students with high academic achievements for the next academic year.
This announcement came during his speech at the central graduation ceremony of the 67th class at the University of Baghdad. He explained that he had instructed the relevant departments and entities within the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to study and meet the requirements for launching a new college project at the University of Baghdad. This college will specialize in frontier sciences, foster innovative ideas and entrepreneurial projects, and adopt high-quality, globally-oriented academic programs.
He added that this project aligns with the ministry’s strategic policy, which prioritizes enhancing university services, strengthening professional leadership, and improving graduate outcomes. The goal is to effectively prepare students for the labor market and attract high-achieving students who will benefit from the knowledge imparted by experts from Iraqi and foreign universities. The college will employ advanced, non-traditional academic systems to pioneer new concepts in scientific disciplines and their applications, such as data analysis, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, environmental sciences, climate change, renewable energy, social sciences, and other fields.
The ceremony also included a speech by Dr. Baha Ibrahim Ensaf, President of the University of Baghdad, and the recitation of the graduation oath. Minister Al-Aboudi honored the top-ranking students, emphasizing that the graduation of the 67th class at this time clearly reflects the commitment to the nation’s highest values in the conscience of the Iraqi society and its devoted sons. He highlighted that this commitment aligns with the true stance of support for the victories and sacrifices made by the heroes of Lebanon and Palestine and their people in confronting the Zionist aggression in the region.
