Master’s Thesis at the University of Kerbala Discusses Syntactic Interruptions in the Poetry Collection Ikhtibar Al-Arif wa Nahil Al-Gharif

A master’s thesis at the College of Education for Humanities, University of Kerbala, examined the syntactic interruptions in Ikhtibar Al-Arif wa Nahil Al-Gharif, a poetry collection by Sheikh Mohammed Salman Noah Al-Kaabi (d. 1325 AH). The study, conducted by student Hawraa Ali Hussein, focused on syntactic analysis.

The study’s importance lies in identifying the interruptions that occur in sentence structure and the meanings they generate within the poetry collection. Sheikh Hamadi Noah Al-Kaabi was a prolific poet, especially in the genres of mysticism, praise, and elegy.

The thesis was divided into three chapters. The first chapter addressed the omission, the second examined inversion, and the third explored additional interruptions.

The study reached several conclusions, the most notable being that the poet’s use of omission created multiple meanings within the poetic text. This technique could imply belittling or magnifying the omitted element, indicate it as known or unknown, or serve to captivate the reader’s attention, allowing space for interpretation by leaving the omitted part to the audience’s imagination.
