Research Study by Fifth-Year Students as Part of Graduation Projects
A group of fifth-year students at the College of Pharmacy, University of Kerbala, conducted a research study as part of their graduation project under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Noor Diaa Aziz Al-Mousawi.
The study was carried out in the college’s laboratories, utilizing groups of laboratory animals (rats) housed in the college’s animal facility. The researchers employed a precise system for determining drug dosages and methods of administration, with the experiment lasting 70 days.
At the conclusion of the study, blood samples were collected for laboratory tests to assess the potential effects of the medications. Samples were also taken from organs most susceptible to damage, such as the heart, liver, and kidneys, for histological examination. The results were then analyzed statistically and thoroughly studied.
The study aimed to compare the side effects and toxicity of two commonly used treatments for type 2 diabetes.
