The Internal Audit Committee at the College of Pharmacy Monitors Laboratory Quality and Safety
The Internal Audit Committee at the College of Pharmacy, University of Kerbala, has commenced its tasks by auditing the operations of the college’s laboratories. This involves reviewing documentation and assessing the adherence to safety and biosecurity standards, as well as compliance with accredited laboratory quality criteria.
The committee’s activities included field visits to various laboratories, such as Pharmacognosy and Medicinal Plants, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Pharmaceutics, and Research Laboratories. These visits aimed to evaluate all aspects of laboratory operations based on the laboratory quality classification forms issued by the Ministry.
During the visits, the committee examined administrative documentation related to equipment coding and assessed the organization of training sessions for staff. They also evaluated laboratory spaces to ensure they accommodate the number of students during practical sessions. Furthermore, the availability of guidance signs, periodic maintenance schedules for equipment, and safety systems—such as occupational safety tools and fire extinguishing systems—were thoroughly inspected.
Through these procedures, the college aims to enhance quality and provide a safe educational environment. These measures are intended to standardize operations and transform the laboratories into model facilities, thereby contributing to the advancement of both scientific and educational standards.
