Higher Education Announces Amendments to the Scientific Promotion Regulations

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has announced amendments to certain provisions of the Scientific Promotion Regulations (167) of 2017.

In an official letter addressed to the State Council, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, outlined the key modifications, which include:
• The H-index requirement will apply exclusively to scientific disciplines, excluding humanities. Additionally, its values will be adjusted to 1 for the rank of Lecturer, 2 for Assistant Professor, and 4 for Professor.
• A provision allowing the Department of Research and Development to modify the H-index requirements based on specific regulations to be issued three years after the enactment of the instructions.
• The new regulations will take effect one year after their publication in the official gazette.
