Master’s Thesis at University of Kerbala Discusses Aliya Mamdouh’s Novels in the Actor Model
A master’s thesis at the College of Education for Humanities at the University of Kerbala, titled “Aliya Mamdouh’s Novels in the Actor Model,” was presented by researcher Shaimaa Jassem Obaid.
The significance of the thesis lies in shedding light on the writing style of the Iraqi expatriate novelist Aliya Mamdouh, her focus on women’s issues, and the application of the actor model to her work. The study analyzed three of Mamdouh’s novels: The Beloveds, The Tank, and The Foreigner, which share a common thematic focus.
The study consisted of three chapters. The first chapter examined the factors of the actor model in Mamdouh’s novels, the second chapter dealt with the narrative conditioning, and the third chapter explored the semiotic squares in her novels.
The researcher concluded several findings, including the application of the actor model to key themes present in the three novels: alienation, identity loss, and nostalgia for the homeland.
