A Study at the University of Kerbala Warns of the Risks of Radioactive Nuclides in Soil and Their Impact on Health
A master’s study at the Faculty of Science, University of Kerbala, warned about the risks of radioactive nuclides in soil and their potential impact on public health.
The study, presented by researcher Alaa Malik Wadi, which included the analysis of 50 soil and agricultural plant samples, revealed that while some radioactive elements remain within permissible limits, they can accumulate due to continued use of chemical fertilizers.
The study recommended encouraging farmers to use organic fertilizers to limit the accumulation of harmful and radioactive elements in the soil, in order to provide adequate protection for both the environment and public health.
