University of Kerbala Organizes Scientific Symposium on the Central Public Library: Memory, Reality, and Horizons
The Women’s Affairs Division at the University of Kerbala, represented by the Linguistic Committee for Organizing Events and Competitions, organized a scientific symposium titled “The Central Public Library: Memory, Reality, and Horizons”. The speakers were Dr. Abbas Obeid Al-Amiri from the College of Education for Human Sciences and Mr. Mahmoud Abbas Al-Anbari, Director of the Central Public Library in Kerbala. The symposium was held in the Sayed Al-Shuhada Hall at the College of Education for Human Sciences.
The symposium covered several topics, including a video presentation that highlighted the library, its shelves, sections, and a brief discussion about its head, Mr. Mahmoud Al-Anbari. The discussion then shifted to the esteemed speakers, who took the audience into the world of books, literature, culture, and memories, emphasizing the significance of libraries and books, and the necessity of preserving them as a duty. They also celebrated the personal achievements and efforts made over the years during Mr. Al-Anbari’s management of the library, sharing some of the stories that accompanied him.
The symposium concluded with a discussion on the main obstacles and challenges faced by this cultural institution, which remains etched in the memory of every dedicated researcher. One of the main challenges highlighted was the financial aspect, which hinders the progress of many infrastructural aspects of the library, in addition to the periodic work of bookbinding and other related issues.
At the end of the symposium, Dr. Rafel Hassan Taha Al-Tai, Head of the Committee, presented a certificate of appreciation to Mr. Mahmoud Al-Anbari in recognition of his dedicated efforts in managing the public library.
