The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Pharmacy, University of Kerbala, organized an awareness workshop titled “Decaffeinated Coffee”, presented by Assistant Lecturer Dr. Haifa Rashid Mohsen Al-Ansari and Assistant Lecturer Hijran, with participation from a number of college staff members.

The workshop aimed to promote nutritional and health awareness and introduce natural alternatives to stimulant beverages, particularly date seed coffee, a modern health-friendly drink completely free of caffeine.

During the session, the instructor highlighted the health benefits of date seeds, including their content of essential minerals such as potassium, magnesium, iron, and zinc, as well as antioxidants that help prevent heart disease, diabetes, and kidney damage. She also explained that date seed coffee is suitable for individuals with caffeine sensitivity or sleep disorders, emphasizing that it is gluten-free and free from chemical stimulants.

The workshop included a practical demonstration of the preparation process, from collecting, drying, roasting, and grinding the seeds to creating a natural beverage with a flavor similar to traditional coffee.

The session concluded by stressing the importance of raising community awareness about healthy nutrition, encouraging reliance on natural and beneficial beverages, and promoting overall health and disease prevention. Participants emphasized the need to continue organizing such awareness workshops, recognizing their role in instilling healthy habits and motivating individuals to adopt balanced and mindful lifestyles.
