The thesis aimed to study the reality of agricultural development in Balad District as a fundamental pillar for achieving food security and economic stability in rural areas. The district is considered an important model for studying agricultural potential in Iraq.

The thesis comprised five chapters. The first chapter included the theoretical framework. The second chapter addressed the natural characteristics affecting agricultural development, while the third chapter focused on human characteristics. The fourth chapter concentrated on the geographical analysis of agricultural activity in the study area, and the fifth chapter addressed the natural and human obstacles facing agricultural development and ways to overcome them.

The study’s results showed that the region has a semi-arid climate, characterized by mild winters and hot summers, with seasonal rainfall that contributes to groundwater recharge and improves soil fertility.
