University President Honors Faculty Member in College of Engineering for Publishing International Research in Energy and Artificial Intelligence

University President Professor Sabah Wajid honored Dr. Hawraa Hassan Abbas, a faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the College of Engineering, in recognition of her scientific excellence after publishing research in a leading international journal ranked in the first quartile (Q1) of the Scopus database.

The study utilized artificial intelligence models based on mathematical principles to predict the World Energy Index (WEI) using nine key criteria, including the GDP of the Republic of Iraq, with the aim of analyzing large-scale data and revealing the complex relationships between them.

The University President commended the distinguished research efforts of the faculty, emphasizing that this achievement reflects the advanced scientific level attained by the university’s academic staff, particularly in vital fields related to energy and modern technologies.

Wajid added, “We continuously encourage faculty members and researchers at the University of Karbala to publish their research in journals indexed in international databases such as Scopus, as this plays a role in raising the university’s ranking and enhancing its international academic presence.” For her part, Dr. Hawraa Hassan Abbas expressed her gratitude to the university administration for this honor, stressing that institutional support is an important incentive to continue providing more scientific achievements that contribute to serving the community.
