University of Kerbala Organizes its 4th Annual Math Festival

College of Education for Pure Sciences / University of Kerbala has organized its 4th annual Mathematics Festival, which is entitled the “π ” Festival.

The festival is in cooperation with Al-Zahraa University for Women, Open Educational College, Karbala Education Directorate, and Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) Charitable Center for Development and Education.

The festival activities have been attended by President of the University, Prof. Dr. Basim K. Nile, vice President for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Akram Al-Yasiri, Chairman of Deans Committee of Faculties of Education for Pure Sciences, vice president for Scientific affairs of Al-Zahraa University for Women, and General Director of Karbala Education.

During his speech , Prof. Dr. Basim K. Nile says that organizing such festivals is an important step for the university, researchers and specialists, stressing the necessity of transforming the festival into a conference specifically for mathematics so that researchers can publish their research, while he calls for formation of research teams of mathematics professors to achieve scientific benefit and raise level of the university. Within international classifications, Prof. Dr. Basim K. Nile points out that Iraqi universities are living in an era of launch at the present time, indicating that University of Kerbala occupies a prominent position in international classifications.

For her part, Dean of College of Education for Pure Science, Prof. Dr. Hamida Idan, explains that cooperation between University of Kerbala and other universities achieves scientific and societal gains and reduces researchers’ effort and time to complete their scientific research. She calls for the necessity of increasing awareness of mathematics and increasing interest in it because of its impact on reducing challenges facing development of various sciences, the most important of which is artificial intelligence.
