Karbala University’s Master’s Dissertation: On Removal of Metal

College of Science, University of Karbala discussed a master dissertation on the removal of some metal ions by two types of ligands by the postgraduate student, Ms. Ayyam Tariq Abd Al-Kadhim.

The dissertation aimed at preparing porous materials derived from rice husks with nano-magnetic iron, characterizing them via using physical techniques and using them to remove a number of ionic pollutants in aqueous solutions.
The dissertation concluded that porous materials are good at removing contaminated materials and the percentage of removal increases with the presence of Nano-scale magnetic iron on the porous materials.

The dissertation recommended using other sources of amorphous silica, using it with different organic groups, using it to remove pollutants and studying the effect of the same porous materials with other pollutants, such as dyes.
