A lecturer  at the College of Pharmacy publishes a scientific research in an international journal.

The lecturer  at the College of Pharmacy and Head of the Pharmacognosy and medicinal plants Branch, Assistant Professor Dr. Salam Ahmed Abd, published a scientific research in the journal of Sienceand Mathematics Lette of Sultan Idris University Malaysia.

The research, titled Chemical and Botanical Examination, and Anti-Bacterial Activity of Catnip Extracts Growing in Iraq.

The research included studying the effect of Mentha pulegium extracts Where the plant was extracted using chromatography technique under vacuum pressure in the presence of different polar solvents to obtain secondary fractionation extracts and then the effect of these extracts on the bacterial activity of gram positiv S.aureus and s.haemolyticus and gramnegative p.aeruginosaa and k.pneumoniaei (positive and negative(

The research included a chemical study of the components of the leaves and stems of the plant, and the results of the chemical examination showed that the plant contains a high percentage of compounds such as flavones and cyones, while alkaloids are present in a small percentage.

It is noteworthy that both researchers, Assistant Professor Dr. Alaa Abdel-Hassan Hamdan and Mr. Ibrahim Haider have participated in the published research.

Where research published in international journals contributes to strengthening the movement of scientific research, as well as contributing to the advancement of Karbala University and the College of Pharmacy within the international classifications.
