Ministry of Planning grants a lecturer at the College of Pharmacy a patent for the preparation of new anti-cancer compounds

Lecturer at the College of Pharmacy, Assistant Professor Dr. Jalal Hassan Abu Taheen, obtained a patent from the Central Agency for Standardization and Quality Control in the Ministry of Planning. The patent included the preparation of a group of new thiol derivatives that are known as being anti-cancer, and these compounds were spectroscopically examined outside Iraq (Malaysia). It was of very high purity, and after it was tested on breast cancer, the results were excellent as anti-cancer without affecting normal healthy cells.
This patent is the third one obtained by Dr. Jalal Hassan during this year after obtaining two previous joint patents with a number of researchers at the University of Babylon. ,the first was a preparation of antioxidant derivatives, while the second was a preparation of new compounds to prevent metal corrosion
This invention is part of a series of innovations that the college seeks for the importance of pharmaceutical sciences in the face of diseases and epidemics, and also contributes to the advancement of Karbala University and the College of Pharmacy in international classifications that depend largely on academic reputation, which contributes to strengthening the movement of scientific research and higher education in Iraq.
